No Sleep Til Brooklyn

About the only thing that would impel me to visit Brooklyn right now is a best friend six months deep into her pregnancy. As luck would have it, those are the circumstances in which I find myself, so it’s off to the city I go (weather and health-permitting, because I am not fooling around with this winter anymore).

It’s actually a good time to head down to NYC – the sales should be hopping, and I’m in need of some Tibetan clothes (don’t ask). There’s also a restaurant that serves Filipino food (The Purple Yam) – which provided some of the inspiration for my recent adobo attempt. Or Suzie and I will just make some adobo at home – the recipe has already been forwarded so the chicken has enough time to marinate.

I am bringing neither my good camera nor my good shoes, as everywhere looks to be a slushy mess.

UPDATE: I’m still living it large in upstate, delaying this trip by a day to throw off the last of this sickness and allow the city to clean up after itself following 16 inches of snow. Maybe there’s a sale on galoshes…
